Located within the greater Walla Walla AVA, The Rocks District has become famous for the quality and distinctive character of its Syrah. Grown among the region’s mineral-rich basalt cobblestones, which absorb the warmth of the sun and radiate it back towards the vines, this Syrah is intensely aromatic.

			Wine Profile
Production Notes
			Varietal Composition: 100% Syrah
		Winemaker Notes
There is an elegant, ethereal quality to this wine that is reminiscent of a great Pinot, while still being beautifully emblematic of Syrah. The aromas offer gorgeous layers of strawberry and rhubarb, followed by exotic spicy tones and hints of forest floor, rooibos tea, ginger, beetroot, orange zest and petrichor. On the palate, it is lithe and lively, with lovely mineral energy, lush flavors of cherry preserves, rhubarb pie and raspberry and savory accents of sea salt and white pepper that linger on the long, bright finish.
		Production
Heavy winter snowfall in 2019 led to well-irrigated soils and a late budbreak. The relatively cool weather continued throughout spring and summer with temperatures in the high 80s to low 90s, and only a few days over 100º F. This allowed for beautiful flavor development balanced by ideal acid retention, producing elegant and age-worthy wines with lovely energy and character, supple tannins and bright, juicy flavors.
