With a dry, desert-like climate, ideal southwest-facing slopes, and significant day and nighttime temperature swings, Red Mountain produces wines of unparalleled depth and structure. Crafted using grapes from Red Mountain’s most exceptional vineyards, this robust and alluring Syrah offers luxurious layers of blackberry, blueberry and anise, underscored by sophisticated notes of granite minerality and savory layers of grilled meat and dried herbs.

			Varietal Composition: 100% Syrah
		Winemaker Notes
With aromas of macerated dark fruit, black tea, red licorice, cigar wrapper and roasted game, this captivating Syrah evokes both the sweet and the savory. On the palate it is full-bodied and energetic, with robust, age-worthy tannins and gorgeous flavors of dark, brambly berries that build to a captivating finish with hints of salinity and scorched earth.
		Production
A cold, dry winter on Red Mountain was followed by an equally cool spring, which led to a slightly later-than-normal budbreak and bloom. Following mid-June rains that significantly reduced the size of the crop, the weather turned hot in July and August, and we began picking our Syrah, Merlot and Malbec the first week of September. While the outbreak of wildfires in Oregon was a concern, after travelling more than 200 miles to Red Mountain, the impact of the smoke was minimal, and we were careful to exclude any impacted grapes. Instead, the driving characteristic of the vintage was the low yields, which despite the cool weather allowed the grapes to get beautifully ripe, producing wines with dark colors, plush creamy textures and rich, vibrant flavors.
